So, I was bored and surfing through DA last night, and found myself thinking, "Ya know, it's been a good long time since I tried any realism, so hey, let's give that a try!" Which... led to this.

It's not exactly realism. It's some weird mix of the two, but I actually think it doesn't look half bad, particularly for not having even attempted realism in a good long time. I'm not happy with the mouth and hair in particular, but I'm rather proud of the nose, and the eyes aren't too bad. Facial structure needs a little work.

But it is, at the very least, better than my last attempt, so hey, improvement! That's a good thing! ^^;

Oh yeah, and I did have Astarte in mind when attempting this.

Anyways, thought I might as well put it up. ^^

You may kill me, but she makes me think of Yuffie Kisaragi of Final Fantasy VII; either way, great work! :thumbsup:

This came out awesome. Didn't like the mouth? But I thought that part came out rather well.

At least you don't have to trace a photo to make it look semi-real. I have to do a structural tracing (ei: where the chin line is, how the eyes are shaped, where the nose sits). I don't trace the whole thing, and leave all details to be hand drawn, but I can't even do have this good, even when I am trying for it.

Oh, and I definitely like the looks of the new style. Isn't it fun to experiment with things? Hehehehe.

Thanks. ^_^ And yeah, the mouth... it might be the teeth that bother me, it might be something with proportions, or it could be something else entirely, but there's something about it that seems off.

Yeah, tracing was never my thing. I know it helps some people, and everybody learns differently, but I always learned more from looking at something and trying to copy it by eye (my high school art teacher actually required us to go to the museum once a quarter to copy stuff there - he was a very good teacher). In this case, it wasn't so much looking at a single reference as looking at a LOT of faces and getting a feeling for how I might want to put Astarte together, and then giving it a try. At some point, I should probably hunt down some good stock and try using a single reference, just for the practice.

*laughs* It is very fun to experiment and see what comes out. Dunno if I'll do anything else like this, but we'll see. I think I have to be in the right mood for it. ^^;

I like this look. Many times a girl will have a flawless face but they look like they're full of themself. She has a very kind, gentle face.

She does, and when she's good, she's very good. But she's also very much a lady, and pity the person who doesn't remember that. *laughs* I think she's definitely looking at one of her lovers here. :D
