Yep, brain's still stuck on Medan. I'm currently doing some worldbuilding and background (all the fun stuff :D ), and I thought it would be fun to do something with the main races. Something like a page out of an old book or field journal or something. So, I did this.

This page is for the Areli. They have inherant magic relating to the elements, and are currently the ruling race of Medan. They've divided themselves into Houses according to their magical abilities, but only the Main Houses really have enough political clout to contend for the throne, and those four are constantly vying for power.

But they're still pretty to look at. :D

Anyways, I'm really proud of the background. It's the first time I've rendered old paper completely from scratch. I think it turned out rather well. ^_^ How many of the other races I get to depends on how much time I spend on Medan this time around.

Out of curiousity, are there humans in Medan? and what is the final house, Aether?

Yep, there are humans, and also satyrs (which are also fun to draw, when you try out the centaurs and naga ^_~).

Aether is the fifth classical element, considered by the ancient Greeks to be the stuff of the heavens that the gods breathed. It was considered to be a fixed, unchanging element. The House of Aether in Medan, meanwhile, is a fixed element in the political structure of the Areli. They are the only House that can never take the throne, but they have a whole lot of political sway anyways.

I liked a lot that his feathers are the same tone as his hair, it was a nice detail. ^^
